Read all of this leaflet carefully before you start using these effects pedals because it contains important information for you. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. These effects pedals have been prescribed for you only. Do not pass them on to others — it may harm them, even if their signs of illness are the same as yours.
1. What VENA CAVA FILTER is, and what it’s used for
The VENA CAVA FILTER is a distortion pedal with an auto-filter and ring modulation, used for the treatment of Bland Guitar Syndrome and Excessive Aural Dryness. When used regularly, it can provide effective relief from these and other music- and instrumentation-related conditions.
All Intensive Care Audio pedals are built in London, England, using high-quality components and featuring soft-touch, relay-based true bypass. There are two soft-touch footswitches: the left is BYPASS, and the right is TAP TEMPO.
VENA CAVA FILTER features 8 controls, providing a wide range of available remedies:
WAVE FUNCTION – An 8-position rotary switch allows you to select one of eight available LFO waveforms:
Random Slopes, Random Steps, Steps, Sine, Step Up/Slope Down, Square, Ramp Down, Ramp UpFREQ – Sets the frequency (speed) of the LFO. The speed (and waveform) is indicated by the LED above the FREQ control.
RING – Sets the base frequency of a ring modulator, which is swept by the LFO along with the filter. Turning it fully clockwise disengages the ring modulator. At settings below 12 o’clock, the carrier frequency becomes inaudible and produces an interesting stuttering effect. When set correctly, it can also create octave-down effects, which move with the wave shape selected by WAVE FUNCTION.
RING SWITCH – Disengages the LFO from controlling the ring modulator frequency, allowing it to be set at a specific value. The LFO will continue to sweep the filter.
VOICE SWITCH – Selects between two voicing options for the filter. One is a narrower notch with emphasis on high-frequency content.
VOLUME – Sets the overall output volume of the effect.
PEAK – Sets the depth of the LFO controlling the filter notch and ring modulator frequency.
BLEND – Sets the mix between distortion (fully counter-clockwise) and filtered/ring-modulated distortion (fully clockwise). Use in conjunction with the PEAK control to set the intensity of the overall filter effect.
GAIN – Sets the gain of the distortion. It ranges from mild overdrive to heavy, fat distortion. At lower gain settings, the filtering effect becomes less pronounced.
2. What you need to know before using the VENA CAVA FILTER
Do not use if:
You are allergic to unorthodox sounds
You have high levels of normality in your blood
You have a habit of accidentally plugging in the wrong power supply
(Use only high-quality 9V centre-negative power supplies)You play with aggressive or temperamental drummers
3. How to take the VENA CAVA FILTER
The dose needed to treat Guitar Effect Deficiency will depend on how low your levels are. Your doctor will advise you on the length of time to use VENA CAVA FILTER.
For adults, this is usually 1–2 hours, twice a day.
Using pedals after meals is recommended to avoid dizziness.
If you forget to use VENA CAVA FILTER, use it as soon as possible and continue as normal. DO NOT take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose, as this can cause irreversible MIND BENDING (Mindbendinitis).
4. Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, this one may cause side effects — although not everybody gets them.
Serious side effects include:
Involuntary time signature changes
Nausea and/or vomiting
Anxiety
Difficulty passing riffs
Thinking you're better at your instrument than you actually are
Looking down your nose at other people’s gear
