My name is Patrick aka Dr. P, and i run Intensive Care Audio from my North London workshop in the United Kingdom.

I started ICA during the 2020 lockdown when there was nothing to do but cover myself in transistors and hand sanitiser, and wait for it all to blow over.

At that point I’d been building guitar pedals and synthy bits, and circuit bending for about a decade previous; rewiring children’s toys so they made monstrous noises and breadboarding circuits which i would tweak by ear until they unleashed some weird and wonderful sounds.

I started building pedals basically because I couldn’t afford them. I was obsessed with finding weird new sounds but they were always out of reach. So trying to keep pedals affordable while also still being high quality is a big part of what I try to do with ICA.

After designing a few things for myself and friends, I decided it was time to get a smart phone, sign up for the INTERNET, and start flogging some pedals.
